Depression

There’s a dark cloud hanging over me

And it won’t rise and leave.

The sun doesn’t know how to push through

And find a way to light my eyes.

I’m broken within

The cracks won’t go away

I thought that shadows 

Only followed sunshine

But it’s midnight black

And I’ve lost sense of time.

There is a film that’s layered on my skin

And it won’t scrub off.

The rain doesn’t know how to wash clean

My mascara stained windows.

She’s angry he said nothing

She’s angry I wasn’t direct

She’s screaming because he’s gone

She’s cutting into her scars again.

I’m breaking down again

I can’t get my legs to move

No use in getting out of bed.

The cracks in my heart

Won’t go away

I thought that shadows

Only followed sunshine

But it’s midnight black

And I’ve lost all sense of time.
